As a part of my 30 by 30 list, I’ve decided to learn how to fly! More on the how and why in my Learning to Fly posts.

I’ve gotten a little behind on my flight lesson videos since Patrick is out of town. He’s been the main video editor around here so I had to teach myself to use Final Cut Pro X! (So basically, cut me a little slack on this video. I’m still getting the hang of it.)

This lesson was about a week and a half ago, and I can already see progress since then.  Mostly we covered climbing at different airspeeds and some turning techniques.

And from the beginning of the video you can see that talking on the radio is not one of my best skills yet either. I feel like I’m learning Greek.

You know, I almost feel like I’m getting the hang of this. That is, when I’m not trying to run us off the runway during takeoff.  I saved that delightful little clip for the blooper reel. Oh yes, there will be an outtakes version of these videos.

I should have one more video ready in a day or so, and then, fingers crossed, be caught up on my editing.

Also, I just want to say a big thank you for all your kind and encouraging comments and emails. Really.

Project Life: January 15-21

by Emily on January 24, 2012

Well, hello Week 3 of Project Life!

The Mom Creative

I’m really having fun with this project, and I’m glad I chose to do the album version instead of the digital.  I’m sure the digital route is a good option, but we’ve been keeping our album-in-progress in the living room and Miles already loves looking through the pictures and talking about the things we did during the week. I love that.

So this week I kept it simple. I used seven pictures and wrote on the cards. That’s it.  Next week I’ll have a lot more material since Patrick is gone on his trip, but I like the mix.

The full spread:

A closer look at the first page:

Top photo: Patrick and Miles have been having a blast playing with RC helicopters this week. Miles begs for Daddy to get them out as soon as he gets home.

Bottom Photos: (L) Monday I broke down and went to the doctor. One diagnosis of a sinus infection and a prescription for an antibiotic later and I’m on the mend.  (R) We got a fixed 50mm lens this week and I’ve been loving it.

A closer look at the second page:

Top photos: (L) Having a tall dog isn’t so great sometimes. Macey snagged a few of the cooling cookies before I could stop her! (R) See? Another helicopter.

Bottom photos: (L) Miles has his finger up his nose ALL THE TIME now. Nasty.  (R) This picture is another perfect representation of Miles right now. He likes to line his trains up and name them all and try to count them.

Be sure to check out The Mom Creative for more Project Life inspiration!

Well, you can imagine Patrick’s excitement when the opportunity came along to join Greg Miller [...]

While I’ve definitely been working hard on a few things from my 30 by 30 list (like running and flying) it feels really good to be able to completely cross off something. Last Saturday I took an Intro to DSLR class at Bedford Camera and Video.  It was a day long class that, you guessed [...]

I don’t normally jump at the chance to review or giveaway big name products, but the email from Jockey and Purex came at just the right time. I was just starting up my new exercise routine and when they offered to let me try out a new sports bra and Purex Crystals fabric softener, I [...]

Running: A Little Further and for a Reason

Still running? Yep! I’ve made it to week 8 (the last week!) of Couch to 5K. Still using Ease into 5K and loving it. New pair of kicks (pictured above) were a Christmas gift that I’m  also really loving. I really struggled with weeks 5-7.  They were definitely the hardest for me, but now that [...]

The very first Project Life post for 2012!  This year, to avoid falling behind, I’m going to post both my photos and pictures of my album. We had a really fun and busy first week of the year, but I had a major camera malfunction.  I took tons of pictures with my Canon Rebel t2i, [...]
