Quotable Miles

by Emily on October 20, 2011

Miles has entered a… how shall we say… high maintenance mode. We are a few weeks away from his third birthday and he is an exhausting mix of sweet and snuggly, completely unreasonable and weepy, and sometimes adorably hysterical.

My friend Jessica posted recently about using a book to capture all of her son’s quotable sayings.  I ordered a journal to do just that, but I thought I’d share a few here too on occasion.

Here’s a sampling from the last few weeks:

While riding in the car he says, “Listen to this Mommy, I’m singing a song: Tooo much caaandy, Tooo much caaannddy, Tooooo much caaannnddyyy…. willl maaakkee yyooouuu SICK.”

At bedtime he prayed: “Thank you God for my blessin’s and for my ceiling fan, and for the wall, and for my blankie. Amen.”

Miles:  ”When I was a little girl, I got a shot on my finger and it hurt me!”

Patrick: When you were a little girl??

Miles: “Yeah.”

He has a few funny words that just kill me, too.

Stoodle = Stool

Alicious = Delicious

While making playdough on the stovetop at my parent’s house: “This is going to be so Alicious.”  Um, we aren’t going to eat that, Baby.

Whenever he can’t reach something he’ll say, “I need to go get my stoodle!”   Kills me every time.

Miles has been attached to a certain blanket since he was about a year old. He LOVES his blankie and has always just called it, Blankie. However, while riding in the car a few days ago this conversation happens:

Miles: Mommy, Blankie has a name.  It’s Hemmy.

Me: Uhh… oh really?

Miles: Yeah. And see? He has eyes right here and a nose and a mouth. He likes to give hugs. He’s my best friend.

And he has since called his blankie, Hemmy, almost every time.

It seems like we go from wanting to pull our hair out in frustration to rolling with laughter with our sweet boy.

Have your kids said anything funny lately?

Oh this is so sweet! Hemmy….LOVE it! I have a 4.5yo son that is hilarious! The stage that you’re in with Miles…I don’t think it goes away quickly…we are in the same stage.

Eli calls his blankie “baby” because that is what he could say a 1yo and it’s just stuck. He was born with a cleft lip and palate, he knows this and has seen pictures of himself before the doctors closed his lip. We were looking at a picture today and He asked why it happened. I told him that God special ordered him just for us. he then says “God is funny!”

Also, I called him dude the other day and he replied with “I’m not a dude. I’m a person!”

I just got a journal as well to keep these funny sayings in. I will start one for my daughter next summer when she start talking a little more.

oh my goodness…how cute!

as far as the blankie naming goes my daughter has a blankie made out of pink minkee, you know the kind with the dots. Well, around two she declared that she was naming it “pimple” because of the dots that look like pimples.

I ask myself…a) how did she know what a pimple is and b) how did she make that connection?

Now she even has a nickname for “pimple”…..wanna guess? “pimp” not in the least embarrassing. Sheesh.

You’ve got to record more of what he’s been saying! This is precious :)

How funny! I especially love the “That is so going to be so alicious!” It’s so funny what some kids will come up with. :)
