30 by 30: Take a Photography Class

by Emily on January 20, 2012

While I’ve definitely been working hard on a few things from my 30 by 30 list (like running and flying) it feels really good to be able to completely cross off something.

Last Saturday I took an Intro to DSLR class at Bedford Camera and Video.  It was a day long class that, you guessed it, introduced the basics of shooting with a DSLR. Even though we’ve owned this camera for about a year, I haven’t ventured very far out of the “auto zone” and I want to get better at capturing our life.

I think this class was helpful in getting that started. It was mainly lecture, and not a lot of hands-on, but that’s what I was expecting.

I’m really excited though, because I got the opportunity to try out an online “Shooting in Manual” class that is starting in February.  I’ll definitely be posting about that process once we get rolling.

Hooray for progress!

Walking away from the ‘auto’ button on any camera opens the door to absolutely awesome photography.

Looking forward to meeting you at Blissdom :)

What kind of camera is this? Hubby bought me a Canon EOS 60D last night and I am eagerly waiting for the book to arrive so I can start learning my way around this beautiful piece of art and confusion! LOL

Hope your class continues to go well!
