Still running? Yep! I’ve made it to week 8 (the last week!) of Couch to 5K.
Still using Ease into 5K and loving it.
New pair of kicks (pictured above) were a Christmas gift that I’m also really loving.
I really struggled with weeks 5-7. They were definitely the hardest for me, but now that I’ve made it over that hump, I’m finally starting to understand why people might like running.
Last Saturday I ran 2.5 miles. Without stopping.
That was HUGE for me, and something I didn’t really believe I’d accomplish a few months ago.
I’m this close to a 5K now and I’m starting to research options for races. I’m looking for one in early February, I think. I will definitely post about it when I get that set up.
Another huge boost for my running was finding a running buddy! Heidi and I “met” on twitter and happen to go to the same gym. She is only a few weeks behind me in the Couch to 5K program too! Perfect! It really makes a difference having someone to keep you motivated.
Oh, and one last running related item. I’m going to be logging my miles in support of Run for Their Lives, an organization started to raise awareness about human trafficking. Please check it out!

I’m so glad it’s going so well! I’m a ways off running but you’re inspiring me to try!
I NEVER really thought it was something I could or would want to do. And it’s not easy, that’s for sure! But I do think the C 2 5K program makes it more manageable.
That’s fantastic, Emily! I know what you mean about maybe understanding why people like running. I ran my first 5k in November, with a buddy which I think is key! Best wishes for getting to 3.1!
Thanks Amy! And congrats on your first 5K. Will you be training for something longer?
Good job girl! I know it is tough but you are doing great! Are you running on the treadmill or the road? I am doing some of both, but mostly the treadmill. I am such a baby when it comes to rain and cold:) I got some new shoes too. They are Saucony. LOVE them!!!!! I don`t have the greatest knees and they are amazing for that. Have a question about music though. I am always on the hunt for some great running music. Any thoughts from anyone? I like the blood pumping stuff:) Some like slower stuff but I need something that will push me through the 3 miles.
Emily, that’s the program I’m using. It’s super manageable. I do it with the Tulsa runner club (which is free here) and we run three days a week. We are on week 2. This is my 2nd time to do this. I did the c5k after treatments and surgery and ran the susan g koman and then had to sit back on the couch
while undergoing two more surgeries. It feels great to hit the pavement again and it’s exhilarating to run in the cold, love it !!! My goal is to run a 1/2 marathon this year! CHEERING YOU ON!!!!!!!!!! We should try to run a 5k together!
Awesome! I really need to get off my rear and start running (or something). I’m thinking I might try to sign up for the women’s running clinic again in March.
