This has been an in-between week for us.
Last week was Blissdom.
Next week we are leaving for Hawaii (I KNOW.)
And squished between two fabulous things, it’s been a rough week.
This week I should have been 39 weeks, and since I was a repeat csection, we scheduled the delivery for this week.
We should be bringing our sweet baby Whitman home today. And although I’ve written about our grief at length, I’m just not in the mood to hash it out in black and white right now.
Also, a very big decision regarding Patrick’s career had to be made. It was painful and stressful. I’ll share more details about that soon.
And beyond our own little family, there are several close friends who are just really hurting this week.
So what to do? I made these brownies, of course. Brownies are a miracle drug.
And because I’m feeling like being all vague and not really sharing any real details, I’m going to point you to some other great reads from this week, okay?
Back to fun posting next week.
Things you should check out:
Good Reads:
Marriage Letters: I Knew You Loved Me When - my friends Amber and Seth have been writing letters to each other on Mondays. I just love this.
{on being brave + knowing some seasons are for processing a lot}- Maggie wrote a brave post on being lonely and being in a weird season of life. I have totally been there.
Capturing Bliss- Rachel from A Southern Fairytale has a link up for all the recaps from Blissdom if you’d like to read more about the conference I attended last week.
Local Fun:
The Shoot Shop- I’m really hoping my schedule allows me to take part in this one day photography class my friend Ruthanne is doing in Central Arkansas. Join me?
Golden Circle Guides- Patrick’s lifelong friend Alex has started a camping/hiking/photography/guide business and there are several amazing trips lined up this Spring. If you love getting out in the outdoors (or want to love it!) you should check them out.
(in)RL Event- I’ll be helping to host this event in April. If you’re a local girl, we’d love to see you there!
For Laughs:
Sh*t Nobody Says- there’s a whole series of these on youtube and they are so stinkin’ funny. (they’re pretty clean too, despite the title.)
Anything else you think we should read or see? Leave it in the comments!

Ooof. Tough week for you, sweet pea. Saying a quick prayer for you that our Father will ease the pain of what could have been on this day. Whitman is smiling down on you, Mama. He’s so excited to meet you when the time is right. Whatever turmoil is shaking up your world at this moment, it’s nothing a good pan of brownies, a heartfelt prayer, and a plain to Hawaii can’t ease.
Thinking of you, friend.
Thanks Sarah! And yes, picturing a beach with a drink in my hand is making me quite happy!
I don’t know if those were some of the cookie brownies you brought to our house, but they really helped save my life this week, as did you. Thank you. Wish I was going to Hawaii too. Hope you guys have a wonderful, wonderful (apparently, writing two “wonderful’s” means super stupendous) time
Thank you for this week.
They were the same ones! I kept a few for us too.
Wishing I could pack up all my friends and have a big party on the beach. We’re going to miss you guys, but we’ll be back in a few weeks.
Praying for you. I hope you have a wonderful trip to Hawaii! Soak up the sunshine!
Thanks Mary! So far it’s pretty much amazing.
Hope you have a great trip in Hawaii and come back feeling refreshed
And brownies are a miracle!
We’re having a great time. Miles is having a hard time with jet lag, it seems, but he loved the beach this morning!
