About Me

I’m the wife to Patrick, a daredevil aerobatic pilot (you probably figured that out from the title, huh?) and the Mama to our sweet son, Miles. We lost our second son, Whitman, at 18 weeks gestation. You can read about his story here.

My husband I are from a small town in Arkansas, but we’ve moved quite a few times since we married in 2004 to places including California, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

I’m a teacher.  My degree is in Early Childhood Education, and I’ve taught Preschool, Kindergarten, and Third Grade, and worked for a Migrant Literacy Project.  This year I’m taking off to stay home with Miles and travel with my husband as he pursues his next career move.

Patrick is definitely the more daring one.  His day job used to be test-flying aircraft, and now he owns his own business and will soon be flying fighter jets for the Air National Guard. But he also enjoys aerobatic flying, mountain climbing, sky diving, wake boarding, scuba diving, and pretty much any other adrenaline rush you can think of.

I enjoy a little excitement myself though: I’m an avid traveler (including 25 states and 7 countries), and I have my open water scuba diving certification. I’ve swam in the Amazon River, and hiked in the hills of Scotland.  So I guess we’re a pretty good pair!

A snapshot of me: I enjoy good books, chats with friends, traveling, mission trips, teaching, eating anything sweet, corny musicals,  and have a serious addiction to Sonic Vanilla Dr. Peppers.  I believe faith and family are the most important things in my life.

It’s pretty compelling to hear someone talk about their strongest, truest dreams. You are so good to listen. Welcome back to Arkansas!

Hi! I am a recent college graduate and got my first job as a third grade teacher! I am starting this year and have been working this summer in my classroom. I loved your reading center! Where did you find that rug?

Hi Brittany! Congrats on your new job! The 3rd grade classroom I have featured on here belongs to a friend of mine. I’m not sure where the rug came from. I found a few at Target that I used in my own room!

One of my sisters is the daredevil type. She’s gone through training as a stunt double. Crazy!

I’m looking forward to meeting you at Relevant! :)
